Dr. Melissa Bercier holds a Master’s and PhD in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and a BA in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois, a Certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist through the Traumatology Institute, and a trained Collaborative Divorce Coach.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Collaborative Divorce Illinois (CDI) as Community Outreach and Member Relations Director and she is the Mental Health Chair for the Amicable Divorce Network (ADN) in IL.
Her doctoral research produced the first systematic review and meta-analysis of interventions addressing compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, burnout, and vicarious trauma—supporting her long-standing mission to help individuals and families navigate emotionally complex life transitions.
